Hypnosis

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis, or trance, is a state of concentrated attention, similar to daydreaming or absorption in watching a movie or reading a book. When you are in trance and receive a suggestion (either from yourself in self-hypnosis or from a hypnotherapist), you are more apt to take it in. This is simply because your mind is more open and we are making healthier suggestions directly to your subconscious.

What does a hypnosis session look like?

We begin by identifying what behavior or reaction you would like to change, and exploring what positive actions, beliefs or patterns will replace it. Then you settle into a comfortable chair, and I guide you into a deeply relaxing state where your mind can let go and receive the new patterns in a gentle, positive way.

You always maintain control of your own mind and can refuse to accept any suggestion that doesn’t fit for you.

Why use hypnosis?

Hypnosis is deeply relaxing. It helps to manage pain and stress. It’s good for losing weight, quitting smoking, and changing other habits.

Hypnosis can also help your body prepare for or heal from a medical or dental procedure. Like meditation, hypnosis accesses the subconscious wisdom we all have within and strengthens our capacity for change.
